EU Just Transition Fund: Ballinasloe Enterprise Hub: Empowering Local Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Employment
Ballinasloe Area Community Development CLG (BACD) granted funding of €263,478.58 under the EU Just Transition Fund.
Enabling BACD to enhance its capacity to support sustainable economic development, enterprise growth, and regional resilience.




How the funding will be implemented
1. Appointment of a Full-Time Hub Manager
Recruitment of a dedicated Hub Manager to activate, animate, and manage the newly renovated Ballinasloe Enterprise Hub.
Deliver a structured programme of enterprise supports, events, and outreach.
2. Fit-Out and Equipment Investment
Transform the Enterprise Hub into a vibrant, fully equipped workspace.
Provide hot-desk and office space to support digital, medtech, and climate-related enterprises.
3. Business Engagement and Networking
Host series of events and workshops, including:
- Pulse Club networking events
- LEO mentoring and supports session
- NZEB energy retrofit awareness workshop
- Community collaboration events targeting marginalised groups
4. Enterprise Development
The Hub aims to support up to 40 + persons in the hub
5. Community Resilience
Provide a stable base for businesses and remote workers, ensuring continuity through power and connectivity issues
- Over 80% occupancy of the Hub since renovation
- 16 active businesses full-time based in the Hub and growing
- 40+ individuals and businesses use of the Hub
- Skills development in digital, sustainability, and enterprise
- Strengthened Ballinasloe’s reputation as a regional innovation hub
