Seamus Duffy
Seamus Duffy has worked in Financial Services for over 40 years and is currently self-employed as a Financial Advisor with New Ireland Assurance. He has been a Board member for the past 14 years and Chairman for the last 12. A Mayo native, he has been a resident of Ballinasloe for the past 20 years and has held various roles in many Voluntary Community Organisations during that time.
Kevin Broderick
Kevin Broderick is a pharmacist and was owner of Broderick’s Pharmacy, Ballinasloe for 25 years. A previous Chairman and Treasurer of Creagh Community Development Council and Treasurer of Ballinasloe Soccer Club for 4 years. Living in Ballinasloe for the past 20 years. He has been a member of BACD since 2016.
Marina Downey
Marina Downey is a native of Ballinasloe and has lived and worked in Ballinasloe all her life. Marina worked as a Post Office Official with An Post for 20 years before purchasing a public house in Ballinasloe in 2000 and transforming it into a successful Pub and Restaurant Business which she ran for over 22 years. Marina has now retired from the pub business; however, she continues to specialise in the food business focusing on Home and Event Catering. Marina has been an active member of the community all her life and is a member of the BACD board since 2017.
John McKenna
John McKenna is a Chartered Accountant and has worked previously in practice and for Multinationals. He has for the past 25 years worked in Athlone Institute of Technology now Technological University of the Shannon as Vice President. John grew up in London and Sligo and has lived in Ballinasloe for over 30 years. He is Chairman of Ballinasloe Chess Club and has previously been a member of the National Executive of the Irish Chess Union. He has been a member of the board for the 5 years
Joe Lyons
Joe Lyons MSc, MA, PhD comes from a farming background in South Limerick and has lived in Clontuskert for 40 years. He spent his working life with the ESB as a technical manager and has presented technical papers on electricity generation, environmental management/ impact assessment at international conferences in the USA and Europe and he has several technical papers published in engineering journals.
Dan Dowling
Dan Dowling is a farmer originally from Kerry living in Ballinasloe for the past 52 years. He is the Creagh Community development representative on the board for the past 21 years. He is actively involved with numerous other groups and committees in the area namely Creagh Branch IFA, Galway LCDC, GCC Economic SPC, Western Regional Drugs Task force, Galway PPN Secretariat, Ballinasloe Training for Employment to name a few.
Councillor Michael Connolly
Councillor Michael Connolly represents Ballinasloe Municipal District on the Board of BACD. A member of Galway County Council for the past 19 years, Michael a native of Moylough worked for over 25 years with Thermo King Europe LTD in Galway City. He is passionate in his support from the re-opening of the Western Rail Corridor from Athenry to Sligo, the development of the Atlantic Economic Corridor from Cork to Derry, and an economic Corridor from Galway to Ballinasloe.
Pearse Keller
Pearse Keller is current MD of Keller Travel & Campotel, Main St. Ballinasloe. He is a native of Ballinasloe and educated at Garbally College. Pearse pursued a career in the Hotel Business before returning to the family operations. Current Board member of the Irish Travel Agents Association and President of Ballinasloe RFC. He is a member of BACD since 2017.
Brian King
Brian King first moved to Ballinasloe in 1985 with AT Cross. He was fortunate to have been given the opportunity with Cross to have several international management roles in different parts of the world since 1990. In 2004 he left Cross and moved to Dubai to take up a General Management position with a local UAE company. In mid-2017, Brian moved back to Ballinasloe and has been on the board of the BACD since early 2018 and is currently vice chairperson. He is keen to help with the regeneration of the business’s environment in town and the surrounding areas. To be successful, Brian strongly believes that we must encourage and mentor the younger generation to take up leadership role.
Anita Killeen
Anita Killeen is a Clinical Specialist Radiographer living and working in Ballinasloe for over 25 years. A Co Galway native, she settled into working life in Portiuncula University Hospital and has been a key contributor in the progress and development of the hospitals’ Radiology Department. She took on the role of Ballinasloe Town Team leader in 2018 and joined the BACD board of Directors in 2019. She believes her role as Town Team leader is to foster community spirit and promote the positive engagement of the community In Town Team projects and events.
Eoghan Kenny
Eoghan Kenny is a native of Ballinasloe and returned to live here permanently in 2017. Eoghan is a management consultant since 2008 and is owner and principal consultant with The Compliance Team. He is passionate about start-ups and is currently working with great teams in two ventures, Bua Nua and 3Be. Eoghan believes strongly in Ballinasloe and in its potential through the good work of the local community, he is proud of its achievements through the years. Previously a member of the board oversight committee in the Credit Union, he is delighted to now serve on the board of the BACD and help where possible, on the various projects and initiatives BACD supports.
Sean Kelly
Sean Kelly is an Accountant and is the BCU representative on the BACD board. He currently works as a Finance Manager with Teleflex in Athlone, having previously worked in senior finance roles with several multinationals including, Square D, Scientific Games, Sportech and Medtronic. He is a Director of Ballinasloe Credit Union for 6 years and a Director of BACD for 2 years. A Ballinasloe native and has a passionate interest in all sports.
